About Us

Nelson East Medical has been providing medical care to Nelson families since 1988. 

We are focused on providing care to young and old, and work closely with patients to achieve the best outcome for them. 

We are an accredited teaching practice with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, our regulating body. We will often have a registrar (a Dr who is training towards becoming a GP) on placement with us. They are fully supervised by our GPs.

Dr Alice Faulkner

I’m taking new patients currently.

I’m from the UK originally, having trained in London, moving to NZ in 2005.

I joined Nelson East Medical in 2018. I love working in a smaller practice as it means that I really feel that I know my patients and their families. I am interested in all areas of general practice and do some minor surgery procedures.

I love our sunny Nelson and outside of work I am busy with my family of 3 kids with sailing, mountainbiking, hockey, skiing, fishing and anything the outdoors can throw at us!

I originally hail from Leicester, UK, and came to NZ in 2020 with my wife, 3 dogs and beloved Land Rover. I joined the team at Nelson East in September 2021.

I studied medicine at Newcastle University, and my special interests include mental health and cardiology. I believe that the resolution of many physical ailments can be assisted by paying attention to mental health routines.

When I’m not working or spending time with the family, I like to get my heart rate up by playing football, a spot of boxing at the gym, or tramping in the great outdoors.

Dr Jocy Wood

I am an experienced General Practitioner with special interests in Women’s Health and Mental Health.

I am involved in teaching registrars in the General Practice training programme. I am also a senior examiner for the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners.

Outside of work I am a keen tramper, traveller and mother.
